the glossy ladies weekend!!

We finally had a Glossy bridesmaid weekend get-together and I was SO excited to have all my favorite ladies in the same place at the same time. Some ladies are from Highschool and some are from College and they have never met before so it was a 'getting to know you and hope you all like each other' experience.

We obviously went to see Bridewars!! (Which was even more appropriate since my MOH just got engaged!) Followed by dinner at Fire & Ice, and then back to my apt. for drinks, wedding themed movies (Liscense to Wed, Made of Honor, 27 Dresses) and games!! I really love playing games - Apples to Apples, Catch Phrase (Electronic - so much more exciting with that beeping for some reason), Balderdash....and of course Wii!!
I had so much fun with all the girls and was really happy they could all get to know each other a little before the wedding.

Over lunch we talked about dresses. We have decided to go JCrew, and by 'we' I really mean 'I' because I am obsessed, but they are all totally on board. I figure they are no more expensive than dresses bought at David's Bridal or elsewhere after you figure in the cost of alterations and we will try and wait till JCrew runs on of their 20% sales.

Here are their choices:

What would you choose?
Also we have to talk about shoes - I'm thinking bright yellow ..... since the dresses will most likely all be different (unless they all pick the same one) should I go with matching shoes? or different shoes too? Really I know no one will notice except me....but still -

too gold?

Alright ladies - I got THE shoes today, and I don't think I'm going to keep them. They are much more gold than I anticipated.

Super cute from the top.Pretty Cute from the sides - very odd angles (taking shoe pics of yourself is not easy).

Eh- from the front.

What do you guys think? Too gold? DIY Louboutins instead?
Sidenote, they also cut into my feet a little, even for the 5 minutes I was wearing them.

my little secret...

The Relentless Bride commented on my previous post that she could not find the RAS shoes for under $108 @ Nordstrom.
Here is my not so little secret -
AMAZON.com

and they have tons of colors (including a very bridal platinum) and still have most sizes?! I'm guessing not very many people look for shoes on Amazon....also - they qualify for 'Free Super Saver Shipping' woohoo!!

the wedding shoes...

My wedding shoes are a big deal for me. I have a weakness for shoes in general and love all shapes and sizes. I decided early on that I wasn't going to go with a traditional white shoe and I have found a few contenders for THE all-important wedding shoe. (All flat of course since Mr. Gloss is shorter than me).

Opt. #1: the RAS Satin Opera Skimmer in Mustard......for an amazing sale price of $71.39 (marked down from $215). I HAVE to buy them right?
Option #2: DIY Louboutin.....
I have always lusted after the perfectly impratical and non-budget friendly feathered Louboutin.

But they are just feathers right? Bright, fun, colorful feathers can be bought quite inexpensively right? and maybe if you get them wet and wrap them around a ping-pong ball with an elastic and some fabric stiffener they might just dry all perfectly curved to match the picture?
What do you think? Do I dare DIY Louboutins? I think I do - I would use these as the base shoe? they are not nearly as cute as option #1, but they are only $17 and SUPER flat (a key criteria for Mr. Gloss since I'm already taller than him).
....and I purchased Opt. #1 and told EVERYONE and was BEYOND excited I had just bought my wedding shoes. They arrived, I squealed and ripped open the package - hm, they were a little more 'gold' than they seemed on the screen.

O'well! - they were still perfect and no one would ever notice the subtle variation of color. I immediately put them on and pranced around the apartment....and they hurt, after only 4 minutes I had bright red lines on my feet. Clearly these were not going to work out. So I reluctantly sent them back....stay tuned for what happened next!! (More wedding magic!)

Have you bought shoes that seemed to be SO perfect, only to be sorely disappointed?

Deal of the Day -

Fantastic Deals of the Day -
I went to Ikea to pick up a cheap shelf today and happened to find these:

Champagne Flutes - $.25/ea!! I picked up about 50 to use to toast on the boat after we officially 'tie the knot'. I didn't get enough for everyone since I know many people don't drink champagne and I didn't want to carry 125 glasses. I figure we'll just toast with the bridal party, parents, grandparents, siblings.

I don't know if they are running this promotion in all of their stores, but I was at the Stoughton, MA one and there were thousands left -

I also snatched up these bad boys:
Sm. napkins - $1.49/50 napkins
Lg. napkins - $1.99/50 napkins (White were $1.99/100 napkins)!!
